We are seeking a highly strategic and technically strong Senior Tax Strategist (CPA) to elevate our tax function beyond compliance. This role is designed for a professional who not only prepares and reviews complex tax returns but also serves as a trusted technical authority, guiding both clients and internal teams on sophisticated tax matters.

This professional will play a key role in shaping tax strategies, supporting international clients (especially foreign-owned entities operating in the U.S.) and ensuring the highest standards of compliance and advisory.

Your main responsibilities

Strategic Tax Advisory

  • Act as a senior technical reference on complex tax matters, supporting decision-making across the business;
  • Develop and recommend tax-efficient structures, especially for foreign-owned U.S. entities;
  • Perform tax projections and scenario modeling to guide client strategies.

Complex Tax Preparation & Review

  • Prepare and review advanced federal and state tax returns for: Individuals, C-Corps, S-Corps, partnerships, trusts and estates;
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance across all filings.

International & Foreign-Owned Entities

  • Advise on tax implications for non-U.S. residents and foreign-owned companies operating in the U.S;
  • Handle filings such as: Form 5472, Form 1120 / 1120-F and others;
  • Support tax structuring for cross-border operations.

Research & Compliance

  • Conduct deep research on evolving tax legislation and complex topics (e.g., nexus, SALT, international taxation);
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

Client Leadership

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for key clients;
  • Build long-term, trust-based relationships.

Team Mentorship

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members;
  • Review work, provide feedback, and elevate overall team quality.

Process Improvement

  • Identify and implement improvements in tax workflows, systems, and processes;
  • Support scalability and efficiency of the tax function.

Minimum knowledge, skills & abilities required

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (Master’s in Taxation is a plus)
  • Certification: Active CPA license (mandatory)

Experience:

  • 5–7+ years in public accounting or tax advisory
  • Strong experience with complex tax scenarios and client advisory

Technical Skills:

  • Advanced experience with tax software (e.g., Drake or similar)
  • Strong Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUPs)
  • Experience with US GAAP-to-tax reconciliations

  • Have experience with foreign-owned U.S. entities, international reporting (Forms 5471, 5472, etc.), state and local Tax (SALT), and R&D Tax Credits;
  • Speak other languages, such as Portuguese or Spanish.
